Siddh¢nta Rahasyam

¹r¢va´asya amale pak¾e ek¢daºya¼ mah¢niºi ll
S¢k¾¢d bhagavat¢ prokta¼ tadak¾araºa ucyate
ll1ll

On the eleventh day of the ¹r¢va´a's bright half, the Blessed Lord Himself appeared before my eyes. And what He proclaimed to me then I repeat here, word for word.

Brahma sambandha kara´¢t sarve¾a¼ deha j¤vayoª ll
Sarva do¾a niv¨ttirhi do¾¢ª pa¬ca vidh¢ª sm¨t¢ª
ll2ll
Sahaj¢ deºa k¢lotth¢ loka veda nir¦pit¢ª
ll
Sa¼yogaj¢ª sparºaj¢ºca na mantavy¢ª kathanca na
ll3ll

For everyone who performs the Brahma Sambandha ceremony, the removal of all defects of body and soul is sure to result. These defects are of five kinds, as tradition confirms: natural defects; defects resulting from (impropriety of) place or time, as specified in the world and in the Veda; defects arising from (improper) association; and faults that result from contact (with forbidden things). All these need no longer even be thought of.

Anyath¢ sarva do¾¢´¢¼ na niv¨ttiª kathanca na ll
Asamarpita vast¦n¢¼ tasm¢d varjanam ¢caret
ll4ll

Otherwise there is no way to remove all these defects. Therefore, the devotee should strictly practise avoidance of things which have not been (thus) offered (to Me).

Nivedibhiª samarpyaiva sarva¼ kury¢diti sthitiª ll
Na mata¼ deva devasya s¢mibhukta samarpa´am
ll5ll

The firm rule is that those who are dedicating themselves (to Me) should offer every thing (to Me), and then act. It is simply unacceptable to offer something half-eaten to the God of gods.

Tasm¢d ¢dau sarva k¢rye sarva vastu samarpa¬am ll
Datt¢pah¢ra vacana¼ tath¢ ca sakala¼ Hareª
ll6ll
Na gr¢hyam iti v¢kya¼ hi bhinna m¢rga para¼ matam
ll

Therefore at the very beginning of every undertaking, the devotee should offer (to Me) everything (he will use). For the traditional sayings to the effect that one may not take back what has been given, and that nothing which belongs to Hari may be taken (for one's own use), are applicable to other paths (not to this one).

Sevak¢n¢¼ yath¢ loke vyavah¢raª prasiddhyati ll7ll
Tath¢ k¢rya¼ samarpyaiva sarve¾¢¼ brahmat¢ tataª
ll

Just like the well known practise of servants in the world, so my servants should first offereverything to Me, and then do what is needed. By (doing) that all become Brahman.

Ga¬g¢tva¼ sarva do¾¢´¢¼ gu´a do¾¢di var´an¢ ll8ll
Ga¬g¢tvena nir¦py¢ sy¢t tad vat atr¢pi caiva hi
ll

Just as all faulty things become Ganges (upon entering it), and just as it is relevant to discuss their virtues, defects and so forth before they enter the Ganges, but not after, the case is precisely the same here.
